    ABSTRACT:

The package which is often seen as the “silent Salesman” plays a vital role in the marketing of a product. Packaging refers to all activities in the product planning that involves designing and producing the container or wrapper that holds the product. This study critically examined the effect of repackaging on sales volume/turnover of some selected food and confectionary companies in Nigeria. A two-stage purposive sampling technique was used in the selection of the sample size for the study. Published reports of selected firms and oral interview were the major sources of data Data collected were analyzed using inferential statistics (correlation and, t-test). It was discovered in the course of this study that there was negative (inverse) relationship at 10% level of significance in the sales volume/turnover of the two companies (Cadbury Nigeria Plc and Nestle Nigeria Plc) between their pre and post packaging periods. This shows that the repackaging of products done contributed to the increase witnessed in the company’s turnover. Therefore it can be said that repackaging of products leads to an increase in a company’s turnover. Based on the findings of this study, we recommend that companies should from time to time so as to disband the counterfeit companies that produce their products in unsolicited ways. Companies should follow the trend of technological improvement and innovations in carrying out their repackaging activities. Equally, it is recommended that product repackaging should be considered as companies thrust or  major policy issue that should be reviewed in tune with the detects of the changing marketing environment  from time to time

    ABSTRACT:

High maternal mortality in African countries has often been linked to the practice of male dominance (patriarchy) or gender inequality. This study aimed to examine how gender inequality or patriarchy plays out in maternal mortality. A comprehensive literature search was conducted on Google Scholar database. Findings indicated that several cultural practices in African countries have had unfavorable effects on maternal health. Women were victims of injustice in cultural practices because of their relative lack of decision-making power which adversely affects maternal health seeking behaviors. Some women were denied adequate family planning use because of lack of decision-making power and non-approval of contraceptive use by some men. All these expose women to the risk of maternal mortality from high parity. Gender-based violence during pregnancy such as wife beating was also reported to be common because of the low status of women and inadequate legal protection. Also, the traditional views on the roles of women as primary caregivers limit their access to productive land assets and training as well as education. Thus, many women have little or no control over financial resources. This often limits women’s possibility to seek maternal health care which in turn contributes to high maternal mortality. The maternal death rate remains high because the cross-cutting issue, gender, in maternal mortality has not yet been addressed. Gender is a cross-cutting issue in maternal mortality because it matters in all the three major non-biomedical (socio-cultural, economic, and political) factors that contribute to high maternal mortality.

    ABSTRACT:

The goal of this work is to reveal factors which control Baoulé-Est gold occurrence. Gold traps which have been extracting from structural support have been tested by a variogram with the goal to find expect mineralized axis. Rocks with good grade and geochemistry anomalies have been inserted with the goal to find mineralized axis. Mineralized axis characteristics have led to elaborate mineralization hypothesis. Gold traps are plutonic nearbourgh quartz veins and N60°, N160°, NS faults zones junctions. N30° is the like trend of gold traps. Their geochemistry potential is setting in a triangle area draw by Dida-Kayabo, Dida-Moessou et Boorée-Ettienkro villages. Mineralization is setting by faults zones porosity. Second hypothesis gives a capital contribution to faults zones NS and N90° and N30° birimian trends. These hypotheses draw a prospect which represents 27.27% of Baoulé-Est gold occurrence.

    ABSTRACT:

This research explores the basics of SDI, and investigates the National SDI of different countries. Further, the research analyses SDI implementation in developing country with specific reference to the National Geospatial Data Infrastructure (NGDI) of Nigeria. The research assesses the status and the milestones of NGDI implementation using key SDI components as assessment variables. These components were grouped into four classes: Policy and Legal Issues, Technical, Funding and People. A questionnaire survey via email was conducted on the stakeholders and users of geoinformation in Nigeria. From the analysis, the NGDI has an advantage of having a national policy backing its implementation and the establishment of the coordinating body. However, the lack of SDI directive and funding are major hurdles in the implementation of the NGDI making it lack behind most of the selected case study countries in other key components. Nigeria is also found to be applying a Mixed Model of NSDI implementation as both product model and process model are evident in the NGDI. In the real sense of access network and data sharing, NGDI is yet to be operational, though the project is going on.

    ABSTRACT:

For many decades, the epidemiological finding of females who have cervical cancer was identified as being suggestive of a sexually transmitted process and many biological agents were proposed as being responsible. In order to understand the contributions of epidemiological and laboratory methods to identifying cervical cancer etiology, this paper aimed to provide an historical review of the accumulation of laboratory and epidemiological evidence on the causal association of human papilloma virus (HPV) and cancer of the cervix, from early descriptive studies to the recent development of an effective intervention protocol with emphasis on the use of different epidemiological study designs. Research about the cause of cancer of the cervix has made a tremendous impact in the last two decades both scientifically and clinically. The epidemiological research was very crucial in establishing the relationship between the risk factors and cancer of the cervix and also to describe the type of the association. The advent of effective preventive vaccines prove the etiological role of persistent HPV infections in cancer of the cervix development, and it has taken clinical, laboratory and several designs of the epidemiological study to arrive at this point. Epidemiological research must be embraced and encouraged because this type of research can lead to the discovery of new medicines, vaccines, and other medical products that can improve the health and health outcomes of individuals in the community.

Background: Non Communicable Diseases is the main cause of 70% death worldwide may also cause various signs and symptoms so the affected person can suffer and their families have more burdens. This situation can decrease the quality of life, increase the families or caregivers’ burdens, and provide less guarantee towards the dignity of the death. Therefore, the provision of qualified palliative care and end of life care are very important. The key question of this literature review is the experiences of nurses both in palliative care specialization and outside palliative care settings in delivering end of life care including the pain management. Methods: The search strategies of the literature review generated 51 English articles from many backgrounds, with 34 studies met the inclusion criteria. All of these studies were identified from various computerized databases, the university journals, bibliographies, and reference lists between the years 2006 and 2016. Results: The experiences of the nurses can be generated into four categorizations as the needs of the patients and caregivers, the perceptions towards palliative care, the challenges in delivering end of life care, and the sources needed in delivering end of life care. Conclusion: There are numerous commendations of efforts that are very useful for nurses and the institutions to improve the quality of end of life care. It is hoped that trough these efforts, the essence of caring end of life clients and the caregivers could be expanded over and over.

    ABSTRACT:

Adenoid cystic carcinoma of laryngotracheal areas are rare. They have no causal relation with smoking unlike the commoner squamous cell carcinoma of trachea and larynx. It is a low grade malignancy mainly affecting individuals of 4th-5th decade of life. They presents with breathlessness, cough and ocassionally hemoptysis and are misdiagnosed as asthma or reactive airway disease. The prolonged clinical course with late onset locoregional and or distant metastasis tends to be characteristic. Though they mandate surgical resection, adjacent critical structures hinder complete resection. Hence adjuvant radiation therapy is suggested. However, radiation therapy when offered as primary treatment for advanced disease, also show fairly comparable survival benefits, as in the two cases reported.

Caffeine (1, 3, 7-Trimethylxanthine) is a habitual substance present in a wide variety of beverages and in choclate based foods. It is also used as adjuvants in some drugs. There have been numerous reports that caffeine is an ergogenic aid, ingestion of the drug has been shown to increase endurance, particularly in prolonged exercise lasting 30 -120 minutes. The present study was undertaken to study the effects of caffeine in coffee on endurance exercise in young healthy adult males. Twenty young males participated in this single blind study. Participants underwent two testing sessions seperated by 7days. The testing sessions consisted of handgrip strength test, Rate of percieved exertion scale (RPE) test and an incremental test to exhaustion on treadmill. Paired “t” test revealed significant difference in handgrip strength test, RPE scale, exhaustion time, maximal oxyzen uptake(VO2 max) and heart rate(p>0.05) before and after caffeine exhaustion. The present study indicates that caffeine consumed 60 minutes before exercise can enhance exercise performance by increasing the total time to fatigue.

The Northern coastal lakes in the Nile Delta of Egypt which have an ecosystem of distinctive nature is facing several problems which threaten, There are two main problems facing the coastal region of the delta, The first one is the erosion due to dynamic effects and reduction in sediment transport, the northern lakes connected to the Mediterranean Sea severely suffer from pollution due to dumping wastewater from agricultural, municipal as well as industrial origin into the lake. Hydrodynamic modeling is an essential tool to simulate the combined effect of these physical factors. Modeling the circulation pattern inside the lake is considered an essential tool in order to investigate the Lake water balance.

    ABSTRACT:

Antenatal care (ANC) is the care of a woman throughout her pregnancy. Almost 90% of maternal deaths occur in developing countries and over half a million women die each year due to pregnancy and childbirth related causes. Many women in developing countries do not receive such care. The reasons for high MMR in India are inadequate access and underutilization of health services. Other common reasons are high illiteracy among females, early marriages, ignorance, malnutrition, social factors etc. So utilization of these services by the beneficiaries remain unsatisfactory. Awareness should be developed in the community about the importance of registration for ANC, educating women about detection of complications during pregnancy, importance of TT Inj., IFA tablet ,extra nutrition etc. Misconceptions and fears regarding child birth should be reduced during prenatal care so that it may contribute to an increase in the utilization of delivery services.

International agreements recognized the need to limit natural resources exploitation, as well as the fair and equitable access and benefits sharing from the genetic heritage. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the Brazilian legislation, in particular on the new legal landmark for biodiversity. It also aims to analyze the interfaces between benefits sharing and technology transfer.Brazil became one of the first countries to create a special legislation about the use and exploitation of biodiversity that prioritizes the conservation and encourage national scientific and technological development. This new legislationprescribe foreign industries to develop research activities associated with Brazilian universities to access the genetic heritage as well as it imposes the benefits sharing through technology transfer mechanisms even if these benefits come from a finished product or amaterial derived produced outside the country. The new legal landmark will serve as an important instrument for countries with interest inBrazilian natural resources. However, the success inatechnology transfer process will depend on the ability to incorporate knowledge and adapt it to new technologies, and alsoit depends on the level of discipline and the monitoring by research institutions and others organizationsinvolved in thiskind of process.

OBJECTIVE: To identify the distribution and topographic frequency of thoracic extremity fractures and its association with bone cortex thickness, mechanism of injury, age and gender. PATIENTS AND METHODS: A retrospective study was performed in patients older than 18 years old treated at the Traumatology and Orthopedics Service of the Hospital General Naval de Alta Especialidad with diagnosis of fracture of the thoracic limb. RESULTS: 99 patients with a diagnosis of upper limb fracture were studied. 54.4% of the cases were female. The overall mean age was 46.22 +16.36 years with a range of 56 years (21 to 77 years), therefore age intervals were constructed; This type of affectation was more frequent in the ages of 21 to 34 years (32.3%), followed by 35 to 48 years (26.3%), 63 to 77 years and 49 to 62 years, with percentages of 24.2% and 17.2%, respectively. No difference was found between the mean age between sex (p> 0.05). The most common anatomical sites of the thoracic segment were the distal radius and the diaphysis of both the radius and the humerus. The most frequent mechanism of injury were falls. CONCLUSION: Population groups of young active military men and older women are risk groups for thoracic extremity fractures in which measures can be taken to reduce the incidence of fractures.
