A structured questionnaire was used to collect information from 1060 healthcare professionals. This covered their demographics, how important they think CEM is, how familiar they are with emergency procedures, confidence levels in emergencies, and the challenges faced in introducing CEM. Results revealed that while a significant majority recognized the importance of CEM, familiarity, and training levels were inadequate. The research shows that there are large gaps in the knowledge and training used. Therefore, other people will need to do extra education to enhance emergency preparedness and patient safety in hospitals.

Paper No:

5685

5685.pdf

Affection and ethical principles as factors of change in the personality traits of spouses in long-term relationships in the reality of cabinda women

Author:

Maria Pascoalina Faria de Oliveira, Maria do Rosário Sona Faria Simbo and Rosária de Fátima Beua Pau

Over the years, the woman'srole in society has stood out in the direction of upward progression. These highlights boosted his social, family and cultural position. On the other hand, the current situation presents spouses with ethical and moral challenges that interfere with their coexistence experiences and personality traits. This work aims to verify the implications of marital coexistence on affective changes, ethical principles and personality traits in a group of women in long-term relationships. The study was carried out from February to March 2023 on women in a relationship of 5 years or more, by filling out a questionnaire that assessed affectivity, ethical principles and personality traits taking into account the experiences of coexistence conjugal. Data were collected through conventional sampling and analyzed using SPSS statistical software. 110 womens from different social strata participated in this study, aged between 38 and 42, the majority of whom had been together for more than 20 years. The results demonstrate that variables such as affectivity, ethical principles and personality traits are among the factors with the greatest weight in the Component Matrix. It was also found that there is a statistically significant association between affection, ethical principles and personality traits of the spouses. Fidelity behavior is correlated with marital satisfaction. Changes in personality patterns are related to emotional expression and ethical principles. Most of the women interviewed state that in long-term relationships, ethical principles and affection can produce significant changes in the spouses' personality traits and increase marital satisfaction.

Paper No:

5068

5068.pdf

Quinazolinones as novel antitumor agents

Author:

Sergio Resta and Giacomo Resta

The long struggle to combat and definitively eradicate the various forms of cancer that affect millions of patients worldwide is constantly being enriched with new therapeutic tools. Cefuroxime, a second-generation cephalosporin, has a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity. However, there is a dearth of data on the current susceptibility of pathogenic bacteria to cefuroxime or its combinations. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the in vitro susceptibility of clinical isolates to cefuroxime in combination with β-lactamase inhibitor, clavulanic acid, as there are no clinical breakpoints for interpretation of antimicrobial susceptibility. Methods: Bacterial isolates were cultured from non-repetitive clinical samples from January to February 2024 at a single center in India. Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of cefuroxime + clavulanic acid was evaluated using Epsilometer test (E-test). The MIC values thus obtained were used to assess susceptibility of isolates. Results: Among 100 clinical isolates tested, 78% were gram negative and 22% were gram positive. Escherichia coli was the most prevalent pathogen (38%), followed by Klebsiella pneumoniae (24%) and Staphylococcus aureus (16%). Since breakpoints for cefuroxime + clavulanic acid are not available, the corresponding values for cefuroxime provided in EUCAST and/or CLSI were used to deduce conclusions about susceptibility. Accordingly, susceptibility/intermediate susceptibility to cefuroxime + clavulanic acid was displayed by 68.42% of E. coli, 41.67% of K. pneumoniae, and 12.50% of S. aureus isolates. Other less-prevalent bacteria such as Enterobacter cloacae, Serratia marcescens, Proteus mirabilis, Citrobacter koseri, Salmonella enterica, Proteus vulgaris, and Pantoea spp. were also found to be susceptible/intermediately susceptible to cefuroxime + clavulanic acid. Conclusions: A fixed-dose combination (FDC) of cefuroxime and clavulanic acid was effective against pathogens like E. coli, K. pneumoniae, S. aureus, and others. Given these broad spectra of activity, this FDC appear well-suited for use in the treatment of a variety of healthcare-associated infections, such as pneumonia, surgical sepsis and/or bacteremia, UTIs, etc.

Paper No:

5632

5632.pdf

Caffeine citrate neuroprotection in preterm babies

Author:

Ehab M. The survey took place from June 03 to October 17, 2023. We used data from the reports of the various health centers surveyed and a questionnaire survey of 46 women living in Talangaï. Among the 46 cases of pregnant women studied, 39.1% were infected by bacterial infections, followed by viral infections (19.6%), parasitic infections (13.3%) and mycotic infections (6.5%). These results reveal the predominance of bacterial infections in pregnant women compared with non-pregnant women. Several factors favor these infections, exposing these women to more serious health risks that can lead to complications of their health condition or loss of pregnancy. These include factors linked to STIs and the practice of self-medication, then factors linked to the consumption of toxic substances and the exercise and practice of heavy work, then factors linked to the absence of food, body and sanitary hygiene and the insalubrity of concessions, and finally factors linked to stress and allergies among pregnant women living in Talangaï in general and in the Maman Mboualé district in particular.

Paper No:

5604

5604.pdf

Sulforaphane: a powerful bioactive compound with chemopreventive properties and remarkable therapeutic benefits

Author:

Resta, S., Riccardi, B. and Giacomo Resta

Cancer is a multifactorial disease, therefore it is difficult to identify the specific agents responsible for its progression and development, but lifestyle and nutrition have been shown to play an important role. Several natural compounds, especially plant extracts, are demonstrating efficacy in the development of new cancer therapies, among these compounds sulforaphane is the most studied. But one of the main challenges with sulforaphane treatment is its low solubility and oral bioavailability. Several carriers are being studied to overcome these difficulties. Sulforaphane (SFN) is an isothiocyanate derived from cruciferous vegetables, particularly broccoli, known for its powerful antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anticancer properties. Emerging evidence suggests that sulforaphane acts primarily through the activation of the transcription factor Nrf2, a crucial modulator of the antioxidant response and cellular detoxification. Preclinical and clinical studies have demonstrated that sulforaphane has beneficial effects on several diseases, including cancer, cardiovascular disease, neurodegenerative diseases, and metabolic disorders. In this publication, we review the molecular mechanisms of sulforaphane, its therapeutic effects in various clinical settings, and provide an analysis of the most recent case studies that support its use in the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases.

Paper No:

5635

5635.pdf

Visual insights into gastric and hepatic mucormycosis: A pictorial overview

Author:

Dr Archana Rajan and Ms. Aishwarya Rajan

We report a case of a 51-year-old male with controlled hypertension and recent severe COVID-19 infection treated with high-dose steroids, Bevacizumab, and Remdesvir, presenting with black tarry stools, upper abdominal pain, and paleness, with laboratory findings showing severe anemia (hemoglobin 5.6 g/dL) and liver lesions, upper gastrointestinal endoscopy revealed a large excavating ulcer from the fundus to the antrum, aspirate culture confirmed Mucor spp., leading to a diagnosis of gastric mucormycosis, treated with intravenous liposomal amphotericin B followed by posaconazole, and a conservative approach was taken due to high surgical morbidity, with significant clinical improvement over three months, highlighting the importance of early diagnosis and antifungal therapy in immunocompromised patients.

Paper No:

5617

5617.pdf

Uncovering herbal beauty remedies: the green secret

Author:

Vivek Singh, Mohammad Khalid, Shubham Pratap Singh, Megha Gupta and Dr. Ankit Kumar

Green Secret: Unveiling Herbal Beauty Remedies" digs into the potential of herbal cosmetics in today's beauty landscape.
