    ABSTRACT:

Male, 23 years old, military occupation, previously healthy, is presented to the emergency department for left gonalgia, with no traumatic history, with a radiographic finding of a juxtacortical mass in the right distal femur. With normal physical examination An incisional biopsy of the distal femur was performed, reporting the histopathological study of parostal osteogenic sarcoma, posteriorly performing wide tumor resection of distal femur and right proximal tibia with placement of unconventional tumor prosthesis Currently he is walking with partial support of the limb and has not presented complications in healing. Osteosarcoma is the most common malignant bone tumor in children and adolescents. Before the popularization of limb salvage surgery, amputation was the standard of care for malignant bone tumors. The primary goal of surgical treatment of bone sarcoma is to achieve complete resection of the primary tumor with negative margins.

    ABSTRACT:

Population control is a significant issue worldwide especially in developing countries like India. Population breakout has responsible for various deleterious effects on life surviving resources on the earth. Therefore fertility regulation is necessary for the conservation of life supporting resources as well as good reproductive life of both males and females. Fertility control is a significant issue of global and national public health concern. To control the menace of population explosion, many nations have enmarked various programmes of family welfare. The fertility control has become more important and urgent mainstay of all biomedical and biosocial problems facing the mankind. The need for evolving more effective means of contraception for both male and female with nil or minimum side-effect is more actually felt now and then even before. Various chemical methods of contraception are available today but these methods possess several side effects. Herbal medicinal plants have been used as safe alternatives of the chemical methods. The oral contraceptive pill for women has had significant impact on societal dynamics and socio economic benefits, while the development of male contraceptive options equivalent to female products has proven an elusive goal. The main reason for this is that while sperm production can be controlled by the administration of sex steroids, there is also a decrease in testosterone that requires “add-back” therapy. The World Health Organization suggested that practice of usage of traditional medicine for the control of fertility, instead of synthetic drugs, as cost effective management for birth control. For this World Health Organization has given great emphasis on folklore use of the anti-fertility herbs. In the recent years number of plants have been identified and evaluated for their anti-fertility activity. So, formulation of new herbal medicines has become a growing trend in modern on-going experiments which includes the use of different plant parts extracts having anti-spermatogenic activities but their exact mechanism of action is not cleared. Initiative has been taken globally to find out the efficiency of herbal products for male contraceptive.

Carbohydrates are the biomolecules consisting of carbon (C), hydrogen (H) and oxygen (O) atoms which are major source of energy in the body. Brain and Red blood cell mainly utilizes the glucose. The storage form of glucose is glycogen which is stored in skeletal muscles and liver. The stored glycogen is converted into glucose and is used by body in a condition when there is low level of glucose in the body. In this review article, the author tries to cover various aspects of carbohydrates which may be helpful for the readers and researchers in research.

    ABSTRACT:

Background: Sulphur mustard (SM) is a very reactive agent and causes severe chemical burns. In addition to various cellular and molecular damages, SM affects the expression of several genes. The main aim of this study was to review SM-induced gene expression alterations. Furthermore, using enrichment analysis, we tried to identify the most important molecular functions involved in the occurrence of SM injury, based on the found gene sets. Methods: With the aim of finding genes associated with SM-induced injuries, the literature was reviewed and data were collected manually. All animal, in vitro and human studies, regardless of ethnicity and sample size, were included in the study. Gene Ontology (GO) database was used for gene set functional enrichment analysis. Five animal studies, eight in-vitro studies, and six human studies from 1996 to 2016 were thoroughly reviewed and discussed in more detail. The functional enrichment of the animal and in vitro gene sets showed that cytokine system activity and growth factor receptor binding are the most important functions involved in the occurrence of SM injury. The functional enrichment of the human gene set showed that in addition to the cytokine system, disrupting the antioxidant system may also play a major role in causing injuries. Results: According to our results, the simultaneous administration of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory agents on SM-induced injuries seems to be a significant issue for future studies. Conclusion: Our findings largely depend on the previous results and may be affected by novel findings in the future.

    ABSTRACT:

Blood transfusion is a life saving procedure routinely given in hospitals, but it carries with it inherent risks, including infectious and non-infectious complications. Despite its common use, the clinical indications for transfusion continue to be the subject of considerable debate. Therefore, they should be used optimally and prudently if maximum patient outcomes are to be achieved. Most clinicians would agree that treating a patient with a low hemoglobin level and symptoms of anemia is reasonable. However, in the absence of overt symptoms, there arises a debate as to when transfusions are appropriate. Clinical trials investigating their use suggest that waiting to transfuse at lower hemoglobin levels is beneficial. The current study was carried out at the Medical Wards of Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital. Its objective was to establish the indications of blood transfusions among the patients admitted in the medical wards.184 patients who were transfused on the months of May and June 2014 were recruited. The mean age of the patients was 39 years with a mean Hb of 6.669g/dl. Anemia was the greatest indicator for transfusion with 63 out of 184 accounting for 34.2%.

    ABSTRACT:

Background and Objective: To examine the effect of progressive exercise program on the bleeding frequency in haemophilic patients. Material and methods: Thirty male patients with haemophilia were assigned into two equal groups; group A was the study group and consisted of 15 haemophilic patients (type A and B) with mild and moderate severity received their medical treatment and on their normal activities and participated in progressed exercise program for eight weeks and group B was the control group and consisted of 15 haemophilic patients (type A and B) with mild and moderate severity received their medical treatment and on their normal activities not participated in the exercise program for eight weeks. All patients participated in the current study three times /week for eight weeks. All subjects in both groups were assessed for pain; clotting time and muscle test. Results: Following treatment, the study group (A) demonstrated statistically highly significant improvement (P<0.001) in pain intensity measured by Borg scale for pain (P-Value was 0.000) with percentage of improvement 31.9 % and significant improvement (P<0.05) in pain (P-Value was 0.025) post treatment compared to the control group with percentage of improvement 8.38 %. Following treatment, the study group (A) demonstrated statistically highly significant improvement (P<0.01) in bleeding measured by number of bleeding episodes (P-Value was 0.004) with percentage of improvement 41.83 % and significant improvement (P<0.05) in clotting time (P-Value was 0.042) post treatment compared to the control group with percentage of improvement47.03 %. Following treatment, the study group (A) demonstrated statistically significant improvement in muscle strength measured by manual muscle test of right knee, left knee, right elbow, left elbow (P-Value was 0.005, 0.016, 0.003, 0.015) with percentage of improvement (16.78%, 19.15%, 33.19%,19.13%) respectively post treatment compared to the control group. Conclusion: From these findings we can conclude that the designed therapy program consisted of electrical stimulation, stretching exercises and range of motion exercises when accompanied with the medical treatment can achieve much more improvement in pain reduction, increasing muscle strength and decrease bleeding in patients with haemophilia.

    ABSTRACT:

This article attempts to show Christopher Moore as a new entrant on the horizon of black humor. He has written more than a dozen novels sprinkled with a dose of black humor and other tools of satire especially pastiche. His literary tenor is queer, shocking and out of the ordinary. ‘A Dirty Job’ and ‘Fool’ are two of his explosively funny novels. In ‘A Dirty Job’ Christopher Moore uses pastiche to the extreme. He laughs at ‘death’ and treats it with a pedestrian distain. There is nothing hoary about death. It would seem that ‘death’ were common day to day affair; in a cunning way Christopher Moore attempts to describe this. There is no continuity or pattern in his novels. He highlights the fragmentation in our society. This article is about how Christopher Moore nonchalantly describes hierarchical systems and puts the high and the low, employer and the employee, man and divine side by side. This article tries to explain that Christopher Moore is a changeling. He is evaporating as a postmodern scribe and condensing back into something new. He challenges in fact the futility and the concept of postmodern philosophy. It would appear that Christopher Moore is constantly trying to escape from the cocoon of postmodernism and expand into a brilliant butterfly of hope and faith. May be he is experimenting with a new mode of literary thought.

    ABSTRACT:

The current century can be easily marked by dichotomies where on the one hand humanity is experiencing dense connectivity through advance technology and on the other feeling isolated and alone at the individual level. Due to all these, our value system is on hold. Many disciplines are addressing these issues according to their expertise and nature but no discipline can help us better than the geography which over the two centuries has tried to understand the intricacies of the physical and human relation through different approaches in a scientific manner. Geographical competencies not only enable us to remove our spatial biases but also curtail down the existence of stereotypes, prejudices and biases, emanating from spatial ignorance. Further, it also holds the key to transform our perception about the resources which under the materialistic outlook seems to be infinite. With this background, this paper is attempting at the theoretical level with slight empirical evidences to inter relate geography with the value education. The main objective of this paper is to signify the geographical competencies as value laden software to promote the peaceful and harmonious world by minimizing the negativity prevailing while interacting with the spatial environment. In order to vindicate the objective, data was collected from the pre-service teachers to observe their geographical competencies regarding different places of the earth by abiding the norms of standard geographical competencies in mind. The paper concludes by evolving the framework where geographical competencies will be interlinked with the specific values, to be used in the classroom transaction to promote peaceful world

    ABSTRACT:

People with shared experiences and interests like gays or even students create a language that binds them. A language of every group is peculiar since a language of a particular group is different from other languages (Flores, 2011). Everyone could not escape from the alluring and colourful language used by gays because it is funny and it is more fun to say it that is why some of us are influenced by gay language (Cayabyab in Camalig, 2016). This study claims that there is an internal variation of the gay language as a socioliect, from its internal etimologies. This paper has an aim to identify the morphological processes of the gay language; analyse the affixes formed in the gay language in terms of nouns, verbs, and adjectives; identify the basic structures/patterns of the gay language; analyse the structure of the gay language; and identify the language variety of professionals, non-professionals, and non-gay users of the language. The study found out that the morphological processes of the gay language are allusion, creative letter reversal, creative suffixation, internal syllabic retention, language phrasing, letter retention, letter substitution, lexical adoption, past tensing, reversal/jumbling, rhyme association, syllabic duplication, syllabic substitution, and total syllabic distortion. The affixes formed in the gay language in terms of nouns are ating, che, chenes, ching, d, er, ever, ification, in, ing, ingsing, is, iting, lin, ling, ring, and sing. In terms of verbs, the affixes formed are alin, che, ching, d, ed, elin, ever, ga, gi, gikyupi, han, i, ing, ipa, ipan, ka, ma, mag, maka, mu, nag, nagpa, pag, paga, and pagka. In terms of adjectives, the affixes formed are che, chenes, d, ed, ever, in, ing, ious, kyu, lin, pagka, and y. The basic structure/patterns of the gay language are Subject-Verb, Subject-Verb-Object, Subject-Adjective, Verb-Subject, Adjective-Subject, and Adverb-Subject-Adjective. The gay language possesses distinct characteristics in terms of their basic structure or observable patterms namely Subject-Verb, Subject-Verb-Object, Subject-Adjective, Verb-Subject, Adjective-Subject, and Adverb-Subject-Adjective. The language variety of professionals, non-professionals, and non-gay speakers is determined by their registers, lived experiences, and language etymology. The social experiences of the gay language speakers define the creativity and depth of their construction. The wider their social experience, the more unique and complex their utterances may become.
