    ABSTRACT:

Background/aim: One of the more difficult ventilator problems confronting physicians in the critical care unit is the management of patients who have unilateral lung disease (ULD) . This study was conducted to investigate the efficacy of manual hyperinflation (MHI) in supine position on arterial partial pressure of oxygen (PaO2) and arterial oxygen saturation (SaO2) in those patients. Materials and methods: Totally, 20 patients (men) with unilateral lung diseases and their ages ranged from 40 to 50 years were recruited .The patients were selected from Kasr El-Aini Hospitals (intensive care unit) and all patients received manual hyperinflation (MHI) from supine position in addition to routine chest physiotherapy for 15 min for each session two sessions per day for three consecutive days. Outcomes: PaO2 and SaO2 were assessed before the 1st morning session (Pre 1) and after the 5TH morning session (Post) of manual hyperinflation (MHI) and chest physiotherapy to subside any drug interactions on ABG results at night session. Results: After sessions, significant improvements of PaO2 and SaO2 were obtained in the post measurement compared with that at the beginning of the sessions. Conclusion: It was concluded that the physiological effect of the manual hyperinflation from supine lying position showed significant improvement on PaO2 and SaO2 in mechanically ventilated patients with unilateral lung disease (ULD).

    ABSTRACT:

The importance of electricity to any nation cannot be underestimated. This is because of its impact in the overall economy. There is no doubt that all is not well with Nigeria electricity, hence, the need for the restructuring of its privatization process. Electricity in Nigeria prior to this time has been a public enterprise before it was privatized as a result of claims by stakeholders that government has no need to be involved in business ventures. Using quantitative research method with oral interview as the instrument for data collection, this paper examines the need for the restructuring of the earlier privatized electricity sector in the country. It argues that Electricity privatization was intended to promote efficiency in the power sector which will invariably bring about reduction in the price of electricity. Unfortunately, the distributing arm of the electricity was privatized to the detriment of the consumers who are now victims of exploitation by the elite class. This paper contends that there is an understanding that price should be fixed by the forces of demand and supply, and not by any regulatory authority as it is obtainable in other developed economies. It recommends the withdrawal of electricity privatization by government for sale to the various states where power plants are located, a legislation that will make the power sector (electricity) to be controlled by the various states, while the National Assembly should pass a law backing the clamor for resource control which will enable states to exploit available resources for development including the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity as this will put an end to the present exploitation by few elites involved in the power sector. The paper concludes that the implementation of these recommendations will enhance efficient delivery of electricity to Nigerians.

    ABSTRACT:

Article 222 of Law 37 of 2004 regarding Bankruptcy and Deferment of Debt Payment Obligation (DDPO) explains two things: first, creditor cannot directly force the debtor to pay the debt and or the debtor’s assets confiscation is delayed (moratorium); second, debtor restructures the debt by submitting reconciliation proposal. This research focuses on investigating how insolvency of debtor can become the ground of requesting for DDPO. The method used in this research is normative law study using five approaches including history approach, law approach, conceptual approach, comparative approach, and case approach. The analysis uses grammatical interpretation technique (language based interpretation) and comparative interpretation (comparing data to find the best law interpretation). This research concludes that insolvency of debtor as the ground to request for Deferment of Debt Payment Obligation is unknown in the law of Deferment of Debt Payment Obligation in Indonesia. Insolvency test is inapplicable in DDPO law, so there is no balance between creditor’s and debtor’s concerns in the DDPO. Therefore, insolvency test is important to be conducted to avoid multiple interpretations in the verdict which can lead to law uncertainty.

    ABSTRACT:

This paper highlights men’s violence against women in Buchi Emecheta’s The Joys of Motherhood. The fundamental idea around which this paper evolves is women’s passive position in the face of men’s chauvinism. Often adhering to African values and codes, most African women content themselves with traditional roles of homemaking and child bearing and are still discriminated against in every society. They are wrongfully denied access to the basic human need including the decision making power among other things. Interestingly enough, some African human right activists and other emancipated elites such as Buchi Emecheta have undauntedly decided to write in order to depict this ill-treatment of African women.

    ABSTRACT:

Background: Anaplastic thyroid cancer (ATC) is an orphan disease with an extremely poor prognosis. Radical surgery is possible only for stage IVA anaplastic thyroid cancer, and no effective treatments are available for stage IVB or IVC anaplastic thyroid cancer. The response rate of the disease to cytotoxic chemotherapy has been previously reported as unsatisfactory. Objective: In 2015, lenvatinib was approved and reimbursed for anaplastic thyroid cancer in Japan, including radioactive iodine-refractory differentiated thyroid cancer. Because of its rarity, only a few reports exist regarding the collective treatment outcomes of lenvatinib for anaplastic thyroid cancer. Methods: A comprehensive literature review was finalized in September 2018. PubMed® was used for research. Electronic search results were supplemented via hand searching of selected papers, expert consensus meeting notes, and reference lists from selected articles. Results:We reviewed the progress of the chemotherapy for ATC before the tyrosin kinase inhibitor (TKI) treatment and collected the reports regarding the treatment outcomes of lenvatinib for ATC. Conclusions: In this study, we reviewed the outcomes of chemotherapy for anaplastic thyroid cancer and assessed the role of tyrosine kinase inhibitor therapy in future treatment.
