    ABSTRACT:

Clothing level (clo) is one of the essential criteria used to regulate the 'occupants' satisfaction, along with the operative temperature, airspeed, relative humidity, and metabolic rate in the ASHRAE-55 CBE Thermal Comfort Tool.More often than not, thermal discomfort is due to inappropriately high clothing levels of indoor occupants. This study highlighted the influence of clothing insulation in achieving optimal thermal comfort. The influence of clothing insulation included posture, physical activity, climate, clothing fit, bedding system, season, gender, age level, building type, and indoor and outdoor temperature variations. Therefore, the clothing level per human individual was widely different and should be considered carefully in the design and operation of the built environment.

    ABSTRACT:

Telemedicine is the practice of delivering healthcare remotely via the use of technology, allowing for direct communication between patients and healthcare professionals as well as the exchange of medical records without the necessity for face-to-face encounters. On the other hand, remote patient monitoring (RPM) entails continuously tracking patients' health information and vital signs utilizing a variety of digital tools and technologies. This divide is filled by telemedicine, which enables patients to digitally communicate with medical professionals wherever they may be. For elderly or underprivileged patients who are confined to their homes due to chronic illnesses, telemedicine technology can be used to offer home health care. In a number of recent randomized controlled studies, RPM was discovered to be more effective than traditional treatment. Virtual reality and augmented reality, particularly in the context of telemedicine and RPM, have profoundly changed the landscape of healthcare. Even though telemedicine has many benefits for monitoring patients from a distance, it is important to understand and deal with the obstacles and drawbacks that might hinder its efficacy and uptake. Beyond its technical capabilities, telemedicine's effectiveness in remote patient monitoring depends on the experiences, viewpoints, and input of both patients and healthcare professionals.

    ABSTRACT:

This study explored the experiences of women who were victims of domestic violence and their coping journey in an abusive relationship. In the course of the study, three (3) research problems were answered; namely: (1) What were the experiences of the informants; (2) What were the effects of violence on the informants; and (3) How did the informants cope with the abusive relationship?. The study involved five women who were victims of domestic violence. They were from Barangay Marigondon, Lapulapu City, Cebu, Philippines. The phenomenological design was utilized in this study, and the collection of information techniques were: In-depth interviews and Focus Group Discussion. The informants were asked to sign the consent with the content of the terms and purposes of the interview, using an audio or video recorder for the purpose of recording the conversation. The in-depth interview was conducted in a place where it was favorable to the informants. The participation of the informants was voluntary, and they were assured of the confidentiality of their identity. A free flowing mode of conversation was obtained and the informants have shared their personal experiences. Nine themes surfaced in this study; namely: Victims of Abusive Relationship, Powerlessness under Male Abuser, Vicious Cycle of Violence, Impaired Sense of Being, Diminished Self Worth, Distressed Children, Reclaiming Strength and Self-confidence, Standing up for the Children, and Creating a Support System. Based on the findings of the study, the following measures for implementation were offered: Massive education and awareness campaign on R.A. 9262 from the Barangay up to the national level. Establishing Support Groups and Help Lines where battered women can call for help, providing Shelters, Centers, and Halfway Houses as havens for run-away and battered women, and providing free services from Social Workers, Psychologists, Medical Practioners, and Legal Advisers to help battered women. A further analysis and in-depth inquiry on the study of the experiences of children witnessing violence while growing up were also suggested as means of assessment. These were to assess whether or not children repeat the same cycle of violence experienced from abusive parents. Furthermore, the Local Government Units were encouraged to collaborate with Local and International Organizations who provide trainings for abused women to become advocates of a violence-free society, incorporating sustainable livelihood programs, trainings, and short term courses to empower abused women to be self reliant and help reclaim their dignity to start a new phase in their lives.

    ABSTRACT:

Engaging in the challenges of law enforcement is an integral aspect of police operations, presenting officers with a myriad of complex situations. However, the prevalence of issues such as extrajudicial killings and human rights violations has cast a shadow over the public perception of police actions. Specifically, public attention often centers on the injuries sustained by individuals during police operations, fueling a perception that law enforcement relies unjustly on firearms and resorts to excessive force. Recognizing the need to address this pervasive narrative, the study aims to shed light on the genuine struggles faced by police officers who sustain injuries in the line of duty. The primary objective of this study is to unveil the untold stories behind the lives of police officers who endure injuries during legitimate police operations. Contrary to the prevailing negative stereotypes, these officers exemplify bravery, strength, and a willingness to confront risks, even the possibility of sacrificing their lives in service to their nation. Their indispensable role in upholding the law and ensuring public safety extends to confronting armed conflicts and various forms of violence that may threaten the well-being of the community. The rigorous training undergone by police officers shapes not only their physical capabilities but also their psychological, mental, emotional, and moral fortitude. The ethos of the Philippine National Police underscores a commitment to putting their lives on the line for the greater good, irrespective of the challenges they might encounter. As the linchpin of societal order, police officers are entrusted with a responsibility that goes beyond merely maintaining peace; they are integral to the fabric of our society, contributing to the fulfillment of the organization's mission and vision. The study endeavors to humanize police officers in the eyes of society. It seeks to dispel the notion that officers are immune to pain and suffering as they execute their duties. By highlighting the risks they willingly undertake, we aim to convey that, in the pursuit of law enforcement, not only criminals but also dedicated police officers may bear the physical and emotional scars of their commitment to maintaining peace and it endeavors to provide invaluable insights tailored for a diverse audience, encompassing not only criminology students but also the wider community. Through this inclusivity, we aim to cultivate a profound comprehension of the myriad challenges confronted by police officers, thereby seeking to narrow the divide between prevailing perceptions and the nuanced reality of their profession. By imparting this knowledge, we aspire to foster a heightened sense of empathy and a genuine appreciation for the considerable sacrifices undertaken by law enforcement professionals. Ultimately, our objective is to instigate a shift towards a more nuanced and well-informed perspective, encouraging a collective understanding of the intricate complexities inherent in the noble pursuit of maintaining societal order and ensuring public safety.

    ABSTRACT:

Background: Globally, approximately 18 million adolescents get pregnant annually. This global health problem is notably common in developing African countries than in developed countries. The effects of adolescent pregnancy, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa, are detrimental. Adolescent pregnancy has been linked to high maternal and neonatal morbidities and mortalities, vicious poverty, high school dropout rates, and increased financial burden in respective governments. In Kenya, according to KDHS statistics, the prevalence of adolescent pregnancy is 18.8% with some counties recording as high as 40%. Problem statement: In 2014, TaitaTaveta County recorded a 13% prevalence of adolescent pregnancy. However, the incidences of adolescent pregnancy are sharply increasing and stand at 16% in 2018 as per the findings of UNPFA. The increase in adolescent pregnancy has seen a rise in school dropout and early marriages. Therefore, the general purpose of this proposal was to investigate the determinants of adolescent pregnancy in TaitaTaveta County. Study objectives: This study was to determine how personal characteristics, sociocultural factors, economic factors, electronic media factors, health care factors influence adolescent pregnancy in Taita Taveta County. Methodology: The study used a descriptive cross-section design. The study took place in Taita Taveta County with a sample size of 185 postnatal adolescent mothers. The following factors were found to have an influence on early adolescent; level of education, social culture factors, economic factors and electronic media. The policy makers should come up with policies which will regulate the use of electronic media among the adolescents.

    ABSTRACT:

The military conflicts of the new millennium are manifesting themselves as conventional conflicts, supplemented by various modes of military and non-military action. One of the key drivers enabling changes in combat tactics is the development of technologies which underpin the development of advanced capabilities. A case in point was the war in the Nagorno-Karabakh region, where one side, through the innovative use of unmanned aerial systems, achieved an advantage for which the other side was unprepared. A case study of the war between Armenia and Azerbaijan in 2020, focusing on the use of unmanned aerial systems, shows that the innovative use of the new technology helped defeat the enemy. The results of the study confirm that the key advantage of the new technology is to shorten the process of observation, orientation, decision-making and action (OODA), as a basic advantage over an adversary with a conventional approach. This means that conventional defence forces must upgrade their weapon systems and tactics of operation with unmanned aerial systems in order to be able to play their role in an armed conflict effectively.
